Vote for your delegates to the CA Democratic Party: Check out Workers & Students for AD4

On Sunday, January 13 from 10 AM-12:30 PM at Davis Veterans Memorial, you have the opportunity to vote for Assembly District 4 Delegates for the CA Democratic Party.  To vote, you just need to be a registered Democrat and live in the region pictured at the left.  (Dates and locations to vote in other regions varies; see this page for details).

Wondering what an Assembly District Delegate for the CA Democratic party does?  According to the CA Dem website we are electing:

7 "self-identified female" and 7 "other than self-identified female" to be Assembly District Delegates (ADDs) to represent the Assembly District they are registered as a Democrat in.  

AD Delegates to the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) are responsible for planning and attending informational meetings throughout the region and working with other DSCC delegates throughout California to represent their community. 

AD Delegates are elected by voters (to participate in the ADEM you MUST be a registered Democrat in that Assembly District).

AD Delegates vote on behalf of the community they represent at CDP Regional Meetings, the California Democratic Party Convention, and those who are also elected to serve as an Executive Board member are responsible for voting and representing their community at the semi-annual E-Board meetings. 

Here's a less formal way of thinking of it.  A party is what its people say that it's going to be.  The CA Democratic Party has a lot of influence in what the national party is.  This is our opportunity to influence the Democratic Party from the bottom up.

Personally, I will be voting for the Workers & Students for AD4 slate; see their Facebook page for details.  (It should be viewable even if you're not on Facebook).  They are local progressives who have been fighting hard to improve the Democratic Party, and they have vowed not to take any corporate money.  A vote for Workers & Students for AD4 is a vote for people and planet.
