The Yolo County District Attorney race is contested for the first time in years – and voters should pay attention

Last month, Dean Johansson declared his candidacy for Yolo County district attorney (story here).  This is the first time since 2006 that the election has been contested.  But are Yolo County voters paying attention?

Seems as if they should, if this a recent Facebook post from the campaign is even remotely accurate.

It shows that 74% of Yolo voters support reforming the three strikes law.  Johansson also supports this, but the incumbent is neutral on it.

It shows that 61% of Yolo voters support sentence reform.  Johansson also supports this, but the incumbent does not.

It shows that 68% of Yolo voters support reducing mass incarceration.  Johansson also supports this, but the incumbent does not.

It shows that 60% of Yolo voters support legal adult use of marijuana.  Johansson also supports this, but the incumbent does not.

The main challenge for Johansson and his supporters, then, seems to be getting the word out to say, yes, Yolo County, you do have a choice.  More information about that choice here (and the Facebook post, for those on Facebook, is here.)
