Hot Davis Days Cars & Coffee is Sunday

(From press release) Davis Downtown will present its third annual Hot Davis Days Cars & Coffee event on Sunday, Aug. 13 in Central Park, 301 C St.

The event, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is free for participants and attendees. Vintage, new, electric and other specialty vehicles are welcome. No registration necessary. Participants are asked to bring their cars to the Farmers Market Pavilion between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Once that area is full, overflow vehicles for the show may park on C Street, between Third and Fourth streets.

Patrons and participants may enjoy treats from Upper Crust Baking, and coffee from Pachamama. Davis Downtown is collaborating with several other groups to make this year the largest and best Cars & Coffee event yet. These include the car-enthusiast groups Cars and Coffee Sac, Davis Motorsports and Yacht Club Premier Car Club.

    A “celebration of cars”. Somehow, doesn’t seem to fit-in with Davis (or at least, not the “message”).

    Ron O. Cars are more popular than bikes, also in Davis. There’s nothing particularly Davis about coffee. In regards to “hot” coffee and climate, irony is illegal, especially in Davis, because people confuse it with sarcasm.
    But don’t worry, because there’s a little rainbow crosswalk in the form of a few electric cars.
    In other words, this event is more Davis than Davis.
    Don’t forget that our town symbol is a sexist anachronism!

    @ Ron O…. but hey! The high-level click options at the official site for this are EVENTS and…. PARKING. Because of course you’ll want to drive to this event.
    And want to park your car.
    For free.
    In Davis…. The city that has declared a (hot) climate emergency.
    We need to do something between the fireworks, I guess.

    My vehicle would need a parking spot, but might also be old-enough to qualify as “vintage”.
    Maybe it (and I) can be in the show!
    I’m pretty sure that I’m “vintage”, as well.

    @DDD, Read not so carefully, anyone can participate just by showing up with their any vehicle, and when it’s full they can just park on the street. I’m not sure what happens if the bike parking fills up. Then people can walk around and stroke the vehicles….. Rising high school juniors in particular are encouraged to celebrate their guaranteed free parking at Davis High School. It’s a celebration of industrial climate destroying pornography, organic coffee washed by farmers in the Global South.

    Climate? Organizers encourage participants to leave by 1:00 p.m. in order to avoid Sunday’s projected high of 100°.
    That’s actually “weather”. Now, “whether” or not the “weather” at any given moment is the result of climate change – that’s more difficult to determine.
    That’s where long-term/average measurements provide a better answer. As does melting of polar ice caps.
