The Housing War is Over – Greenwald Declares “Uncle”

Yesterday could go down as the most important day in Davis history:  the day the housing back-and-forth between David Greenwald and Ron Ortel ended.

On Greenwald simply declared, after more than a decade of housing-essays and long comments between the two:

"Uncle"

This will mark the start of a new era with a Davis Vanguard free of housing articles, signed under the Treaty of White, named after our long-departed Innovation Officer, for no reason in particular.  Or the color white, I'm not sure.

The Vanguard will now focus on its true passion:  cooking with fish.  Lots of articles on cooking with fish.

Now if only Ron O. would just get over the notion that Measure J or Rent Control were good ideas.

Oh, well.  Baby steps.  😉

That should elicit an essay for the Davisite.  On Housing  😐

What have I done?

    It’s true.
There’s apparently no shutting-up that Ron O commenter, despite the Vanguard’s attempts to discourage him.
As a result, there will be no additional housing built inside or outside of Davis (and some houses might be torn down).

Oh, if only it were this easy.

“The Vanguard will now focus on its true passion: cooking with fish. Lots of articles on cooking with fish.”
And here I thought the Vanguard’s true passion was “mowing while black”.

I think it had to do with a Soft White Underbelly . . . or something 😐

I’m shocked: David Greenwald has “reneged” on his agreement – there’s another housing article today.
This one talking about how cities can get “rewarded” for facilitating housing, apparently by receiving funds which facilitate even more housing.
Assuming I’m understanding it correctly, this is similar to how Nishi will now receive government funding to assist with their infrastructure, “paid for” by the city agreeing to expand the freeway.
I have another word for this type of arrangement – other than “reward”.

    What? More Vanguard housing articles?
I thought it was “uncle”, “over and out” and “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander”.

Despite living in “affordable housing” (that seems to go the “politically connected” more often than the “poor”) in a street of million dollar homes “North of El Macero” David needs the cash from developer/advertisers so I expecte him to continue with his “we need more housing” push and I expect the developers of this project “South of El Macero” to start giving him cash to tell the people of Davis how “green” it is (and hint that only “racist” people will vote against more housing for POC in town).

The Vanguard will stop publishing articles for real-estate developers when they stop paying the bills.

Today the Vanguard switches up as it writes about UCD and has it done enough building of student housing.
    That’s new isn’t it? Isn’t it? Oh wait…
    In other news…….. YAY SWEDEN
