Meet the Candidates, Pro/Con statements on Ballot Measures, from Davis Media Access

DavisMediaAccess(Press release) Davis Media Access (DMA) has produced a series of “Meet the Candidates” and Pro/Con statements for local ballot measures for the June 5, 2018 election.

Currently celebrating its 30th year, DMA is the non-profit community media & technology center supporting local content creation, archiving and distribution via television, radio and the Internet. DMA operates DCTV Public Access Channel 15, DJUSD Educational Access Channel 17, and KDRT-LP, 95.7 FM.

“Coverage of local elections is core to DMA’s mission of strengthening community through media, and a partnership benefit we offer to our city and community,” said Executive Director Autumn Labbé-Renault. She notes that because DMA is the only media center in Yolo County, they provide this service for contested races countywide when possible.

Under the direction of DMA’s Studio Manager Diane Dedoshka, this election cycle, DMA has produced the following:

  • Meet the Candidates – June 2018 – Davis City Council
  • Meet the Candidates – June 2018 – Congressional 3rd District
  • Meet the Candidates – June 2018 – Yolo County Supervisor 3rd District
  • Meet the Candidates – June 2018 – Yolo County District Attorney
  • Meet the Candidates – June 2018 – Yolo County Clerk/Recorder/Assessor
  • Meet the Candidates – June 2018 – Yolo County Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator
  • June 2018 Election – City of Davis Measures H, I, J
  • June 2018 Election – County Measure K

As resources allow, DMA will also record and air various election forums. Labbé-Renault said links to individual segments, as well as a schedule of upcoming airdates are available at https://davismedia.org/election. There are easy linkages from each video for sharing the content online.

Election programming airs on DCTV (Comcast Channel 15 in Davis); on AT&T’s U-verse service at Menu 99; on demand at dctv.davismedia.org, and on KDRT.  In addition, “Meet the Candidates for Davis City Council” will air at 6 p.m. Mondays on KDRT 95.7 FM, the low-power community radio station that is part of DMA. A live election-night program is also planned. For additional information, please visit http://davismedia.org

  1. And here I will shamelessly plug my own DMA video in the series, for the “No on J” campaign:
