DJUSD Emergency School Board Meeting

There will be an Emergency Meeting of the Davis Joint USD today, March 13, 2020 9:00AM.

The meeting will take place in the District Office, Large Conference Room, 526 B Street, Davis, CA 95616. 

The Agenda is fairly cryptic but there can be little doubt what is being considered – the board will likely be deciding on whether or not to keep DJUSD schools open in light of the Covid-19 virus.

IV.a. Announcement of any Decisions Made in Closed Session

V. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION/ACTION

V.a. Consider Potential Board Resolution and/or Additional Public Statement

VI. DATE, TIME, AND PLACE OF NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING

The next meeting of the Board of Education is scheduled for March 19, 2020. The Board will convene in open session, and immediately thereafter adjourn to closed session at 5:00 p.m. in the Susan B. Anthony Administration Building at 526 B Street, Davis, California. The Board will reconvene in open session at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the Community Chambers at 23 Russell Boulevard, Davis, California.

    Sounds like a smart idea for smart School Officials to meet to discuss public health threats and appropriate response. Interestingly enough the Palo Alto School District had an emergency meeting this week and they decided to do a flexible attendance flexible learning policy and practice….. and NOT a wholesale cancellation of classes.

    “Patriotic Observance” is not “cryptic”; it states clearly that schools will be closed, and by implication places where adults are in close proximity, such as bars (someone told me that his fave pub was “hopping” last night. Guess you can’t un-teach stupidity.)
